Vicarious trauma frequently impacts health care workers as they care for individuals experiencing medical and psychosocial challenges. Vicarious trauma experienced by health care workers has the potential to impact personal beliefs and values, personal and professional relationships, as well as overall job performance.

Upon course completion, leaners should be able to recognize vicarious trauma in themselves and team members while utilizing evidence-based measures to prevent or minimize the effects of vicarious trauma.

  • Describe how vicarious trauma impacts individuals both physically and emotionally
