Use these sample answers when answering commonly asked questions about the COVID vaccine and kids.
Does your hospital recommend that all children should receive the COVID-19 vaccine?
We understand that this is an important and serious decision for parents to make and we are here to answer your questions. We encourage families to have children between the ages of 5 and 11 vaccinated to better protect them against the virus. As always, we follow CDC and FDA guidelines and encourage parents to consult with their family’s health care provider with any questions or concerns.
Do you have any concerns about giving the COVID-19 vaccine to kids between the ages of 5-11?
For children, parents, and families, this is good news. The vaccine helps protect children from getting the infection. The FDA, CDC, and an independent advisory panel were thorough in their research and analysis, and we support their recommendation.
Are you worried about giving it to a population that’s still young and developing?
The FDA and CDC conducted extensive research and analysis on the vaccine. It is safe and effective. [If your hospital participated in vaccine trial research, insert findings from vaccine trials]. We believe it is important for families to get their children vaccinated, not only for their protection, but also to allow them to get back to normal.
Should I be concerned about myocarditis?
The COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective, as the FDA and CDC found. Research and trials show that there was no serious medical conditions or serious adverse reactions from this vaccine.
Should I give my child the vaccine?
That’s a decision that is ultimately up to the family. However, we encourage parents to get their children vaccinated or consult their family health care provider if they have questions. The vaccine is a safe and effective way of protecting children from COVID-19.
Can we come to your hospital to get our child vaccinated?
Yes, we are working closely with federal, state, and local officials to help administer vaccines to children. (Answer may depend on hospital)
Does your hospital require its doctors and staffs to be fully vaccinated?
The Biden-Harris Administration is requiring COVID-19 vaccination of eligible staff at health care facilities that participate in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. All eligible staff must receive the necessary shots to be fully vaccinated, either two doses of Pfizer or Moderna or one dose of Johnson & Johnson, by Jan. 4, 2022.
Once children are vaccinated, should they be required to wear masks?
We believe masking, social distancing, and vaccinations are the three best ways of helping stop the spread of COVID-19.
